Rare Earth Element Recycling

Sustainably Recycling NdFeB Magnets

TURN WASTE INTO PROFIT

SOURCE DOMESTICALLY

MEET DEMAND FASTER

Problem

NdFeB Magnets are the strongest permanent magnets on earth and critical to most clean energy technologies.

Since the invention of this magnet, new fields of application have appeared every year, with an annual growth in demand of more than 30%.

Although there are thousands of recyclers in the U.S., none have a profitable method for recovering highly valuable REEs from NdFeB magnets. Thus, they are shredded and sold as contaminated scrap metal.

Demand is expected to surpass supply.

There are no substitutes for REEs that can create the same performance.

China controls 97% of the REEs used in magnets.

Trade war exposure to supply chains for OEMs worldwide.

Increasing concern of environmental impacts from mining and processing.

Reecycle Inc.

Our Solution

REEcycle’s proven recycling process can recover nearly all REEs locked inside of discarded NdFeB magnets.

With our low waste recycling process, REEcycle aims to provide an alternative option to electronic waste as well as reduce supply uncertainty for companies reliant on rare earth elements.

New revenue stream from electronic waste

Dependable, renewable, secure source of REEs

Source REEs domestically within the USA

Reduce landfill waste and support sustainable end-of-life process

Patented, low waste process

Truly circular and sustainable product

Very low carbon footprint process

How It Works

Using a patented recycling process, REEcycle recovers rare earth elements that are essential for NdFeB magnets. These magnets come from cutting edge electronics and innovative clean energy technologies. With our low-cost, low waste recycling process, we are creating a new source of rare earth supply with the same sustainable focus of the technologies they make possible.

SOURCING

We start with discarded magnets from electronic waste such as hard disk drives, wind turbine motors , electronic vehicle and bike motors, speakers, MRI machines, satellite communications, and national defense systems.

TECHNOLOGY

With a 99.8% recover efficiency, our process extracts rare earths in the form of metal organic frameworks. The process requires low temperatures and solvents are consumed in the process, minimizing waste.

END PRODUCT

Our final product is created for and sold to original electronic manufacturers (OEMs). These OEMs use our solution to create new NdFeB magnets for state-of-the-art technologies and exciting innovations.

“With their innovative (and proprietary) approach to recycling a pair of critical rare earth materials, the REEcycle team introduced the energy industry to an innovative way to turn waste into a domestic stream of rare earth elements.”
